Reactive Oxygen Species – Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are chemically reactive chemical species containing oxygen. Examples include peroxides, superoxide, hydroxyl radical, singlet oxygen, and alpha-oxygen. ROS are also generated by exogenous sources such as ionizing radiation.
